What the Standards Program has meant for our Museum
This program has assisted the Board and staff in clarifying the Museum’s future direction. This includes commencing a strategic action plan for the building of an art gallery to house the Museum’s Fine Arts collection, and the development of a procedure for monitoring the condition of artefacts currently on display.

The Abbey Museum has more stained glass than the Winchester Cathedral.

What the Standards Program has meant for our Museum
+ We feel it is now time to focus on the industry and our significant peanut collection and use it to market the museum. The Program has helped us to refocus on collections significance to develop and market the peanut theme.
+ Through our participation in the program we have been able to portray to our shire council and our community a degree of professionalism in the way the museum is managed.
'Did You Know' - intriguing facts about the Museum & its collection
Kingaroy Heritage Museum has the first ever Peanut Thresher built in Australia, along with several machines that were designed and built in Kingaroy by inventive local Peanut Farmers. In the early days of peanut farming existing machinery from the USA was unsuitable for the farming conditions of the area.

What the Standards Program has meant for our Museum
+ Improved response from volunteers. This has no doubt been brought about by changes in our staffing structure (loss of paid staff) but the involvement in the Standards Program assisted in empowering the volunteers to take the reins.
+ New ideas for financial support.

Landsborough Museum – A Caloundra City Heritage Centre holds a collection of items personally donated by the former premier Sir G.F.R (Frank) Nicklin.

What the Standards Program has meant for our Museum
+ Working through the process of developing an Action Plan we have begun to ascertain our future direction and have started to develop a strategic plan.
+ We have begun cataloguing our collection, and have new members trained to use collection management software as well as old members involved in cataloguing and photographing the collection, enabling easy transfer to the electronic system.

Logan City Historical Museum is re-establishing an excellent collection of butter factory machinery and implements originally utilised in the factory.

What the Standards Program has meant for our Museum
+ New and improved policies and collections management standards
including a preservation policy, which will better guide us in decisions relating to preservation or restoration.
+ Our planning documents now better reflect the language and principles of collection management.
'Did You Know' - intriguing facts about the Museum & its collection
The Wynnum Museum is set up to represent a station in the 1930s with its casualty and communication rooms, the boardroom with the superintendent’s office and the plant room. There are several old, heavy serge uniforms on display and various badges and insignia covering the entire 114 years of Queensland Ambulance History.

What the Standards Program has meant for our Museum
+ We developed a much more functional management structure for our organisation, relieving the management committee of most of the routine tasks which have now been delegated to functional managers for daily operations, finance, publicity, collections and exhibitions.
+ We revised our procedures for collection management, and are introducing new procedures and training for object significance assessment and preservation.
'Did You Know' - intriguing facts about the Museum & its collection
Redland Museum has Australia’s only, ca 1890, Halladay Standard wooden windmill. For the complete and detailed restoration of this rare windmill the Redland Museum won the National Trust Community Silver Award for Excellence in Heritage Conservation.
