Each year as part of International Museum Day (18 May), M&GSQ coordinates Museums Alight!, an annual week-long celebration that “shines a light” on the collection items, contemporary art exhibitions, historical venues and stories of museums and galleries in every region of Queensland.
To draw on this year’s International Museum Day theme of Museums and Tourism, M&GSQ has linked participating cultural institutions to Google Maps. This will help you locate venues when planning your next holiday, cultural outing, or simply to find out more about galleries and museums in your area.
Below are listings of each participating institution, click to see images of key objects and read intriguing facts about each venue. Then visit your local museum or gallery to see the real thing!
