| This is of particular interest as it is built around a refurbished hut as used by the Women’s Land Army in the district during World War 2. The hut now houses interesting displays featuring uniforms and artefacts from that period.

Did you know... Did you know that Private Victor Stanley Jones is recorded as being the first Australian Soldier to die whilst a serving member of the Imperial Forces? Before enlisting he worked as the paymaster of the Mount Morgan Mine. His story forms an important part of our Boer War display.

| The Rockhampton/American Room | |
This room houses objects left behind by the American Forces during World War II. The objects were collected by military enthusiasts on the sites of the many camps around the Rockhampton region.
At the time, many of these items had not been seen in Australia before. The Americans brought many new ideas, music and entertainment to Rockhampton, changing the social structure forever.
