This is of particular interest as it is built around a refurbished hut as used by the Women’s Land Army in the district during World War 2. The hut now houses interesting displays featuring uniforms and artefacts from that period.

The Rockhampton/American Room

This room houses objects left behind by the American Forces during World War II. The objects were collected by military enthusiasts on the sites of the many camps around the Rockhampton region.

At the time, many of these items had not been seen in Australia before. The Americans brought many new ideas, music and entertainment to Rockhampton, changing the social structure forever.
