Dorothy's Artworks

Dorothy’s work is noteworthy not only for its scientific accuracy, but also for its artistic qualities. Her watercolour paintings are created with painstaking attention to detail, sometimes with the assistance of a hand lens, and are testimony to the delicate and miraculous structures, colours and forms of Australian wildflowers.

For Myall Park Gallery, this collection of 48 original paintings is a significant memento of changing times. The wool boom years of the mid 20th century gave way to some of the toughest times known in the Queensland pastoral industry. Dorothy died in 1985, leaving behind these works as a souvenir of the beauty and prosperity of her era.
