15 May - 23 May 2010
International Museum Day is on the 18 May and to celebrate, the week-long, state-wide event, Museums Alight! 2010, provides the opportunity for museums and galleries in every region of Queensland to showcase their collections, historical venues and their stories to the public while taking part in the global celebration of International Museum Day.
The 2010 International Council of Museums’ (ICOM) theme is Museums and Social Harmony. The basis of social harmony lies in dialogue, tolerance, coexistence and development – ‘to agree but to stand out, to look for common ground but to keep the difference’.
M&GSQ has invited museums and galleries throughout Queensland to participate in Museums Alight! 2010 by joining with other organisations in their community and working together on a museum/gallery project.
Below are all of the organisations participating this year. Click on their name to see what activities they are holding for Museums Alight!
